-Highly successful people have many things in common.
When I was 17 I discovered Tony Robbins. He came to me in the form of a cassette tape box set, filled with messages of hope, belief and success. Tony is an energetic inspirational speaker who believes that if you model the behaviour of your mentors you can create success in any area of your life. Reinventing the wheel is absolutely unnecessary, and a complete waste of time. Let’s begin to think, say, and do the things that highly successful people think, say, and do because they are obviously thinking, saying and doing it right.
1. Highly successful people know their purpose
If you foster a clear, concise idea of what you are here to do, or what legacy you’d like to leave behind, you will have a much greater chance of achieving success. Believe in your purpose just like highly successful people believe in theirs.
2. Have a morning routine
This is going to be the first impression you get of the day. If your days starts badly it can be hard to squash, so try design a morning ritual that is realistic to you. The list below can help you ease into new, positive habits right from the start of the day.
a) Wake up early
Begin to notice those quiet times. They are rejuvenating, and well worth it.
Here is a great video about being excited to wake up early.
Kosio Angelov suggests to:
- Gradually wake up earlier
- Write down what time you want to wake up
- Be consistent in the time you wake up
- Figure out how much sleep you need 7 – 9 hrs
- Don’t hit the snooze button
- Jump out of bed with energy
- Get excited
b) Meditate
With a few deep breaths, repeat positive affirmations and words of gratitude while visualizing your day ahead. It may feel weird at first, but don’t be shy to even say them out loud while looking in the mirror.
c) Eat a healthy breakfast
Your body and mind need those nutrients to function at their peak. It’s so easy to neglect your own health in order to give all you can to your business, but that is not self serving. Start the day with fruit, yoghurt, grains, and/or eggs. You can still indulge in coffee and tea, but drinking water should be your main fluid intake throughout the day.
d) Move
Movement of any intensity will jump start your metabolism, and keep you sharp all day. Stretch, walk, go to the gym, or hire a personal trainer. Find something active that you enjoy, then gradually build up the minutes until you are at 30 – 60 minutes per day.
3. Read, read, read
The more you know the better your strategies and vocabulary will be. Reading means you are learning, and when we continue to learn we grow. Read as much as you can, as often as you can.
4. Focus on your goals
When your day starts off positive you are going to set yourself up for new habits that are important for productivity. Think of your life as a mind map of goals. Goals that are exciting, yet challenging. Highly successful people write down their goals, think of their goals often, and continuously ask themselves questions that are empowering.
5. Spend time with family and pets
To build the relationships that will support your success you need to put your health and your family first. You are not going to be able to focus on your career if personal relationships are chaotic.
6. Don’t look back at those who criticize you
Avoid worrying about your competition. It’s like running a race, and continuously looking back to see whats happening around you. Remember that’s how Atalanta lost her race. It’s too distracting, and can make us feel inferior, jealous or conceited.
7. Cross promote
Share clientele with other like companies that aren’t your competitors. This healthy habit of networking is a staple in most successful businesses. Always be on the lookout for networking opportunities.
8. Incorporate synergy
To add to what you have already built you can find creative ways to give your customers more. We are forever changing, and can always find synergies to improve our product or service.
9. Invest in real estate if possible
This is the best form of passive income that will give you more time to nurture yourself, your friends, and your family. Many highly successful people buy real estate because “they” aren’t making anymore of it, which makes it extremely valuable.
10. Be proactive, not reactive
When things suck, practice pushing out the negative thoughts, and focus on what you can do to turn the situation around.
11. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket
You could rely on one big contract for your revenue, or you could see the value in many small opportunities. Even if one falls through you will still be okay. This applies to investing, employees, suppliers, and service technicians if your company uses them.
12. What is the next right move?
Oprah Winfrey always focuses on the next right move, because it keeps her from being overwhelmed. Highly successful people focus only on the next right move. This ensures they feel the sense of accomplishment more often which will manifest confidence and persistence. Remember “failure is just there to point you in another direction” – Oprah Winfrey
Aristotle said that 95% of everything you do is the result of habit. Gradually forming new and exciting habits will heighten our business, and pleasure experiences. Copy from the best and persevere by doing that you’ll cut out all the guess work.
